Moving the databases from their default location can get a little tricky. We do not recommend moving them. Instead, we have created a knowledgebase article on how to create a scheduled task to copy the database files to a network file server to be backed up from that server.
If you still wish to move the databases, please follow these instructions logged in as a local administrator:
- Close any Televor Software applications
- Move the data files to your desired network location. The default location for the database is: C:\Program Files\Televor Software\[YOUR EDITION HERE]\Data. Move the entire contents of the "Data" folder to the folder of your choice. Note: Make sure the user that will be using the software has read/write permissions to the new location.
- Open the Windows Control Panel
- Open the BDE Administrator applet
- Browse to the edition of the software you moving (ex. KIMS POLICE K-9 TRAINER), and left-click on it
- Click on "Path" in the left pane of the BDE Administrator
- Click on the ... icon to the right of the "Path" field. This will open a window to allow you to browse to the new file location
- Click the OK button to select the new location
- On the toolbar of the BDE Administrator, click the "Apply" button to apply the changes you just made.
- Close the BDE Administrator, and run the software as you normally would.
Note: Depending on your network connection to the new location, performance may be degraded due to network usage and bandwidth.
